Stages of our Service

Stock Removal & Action Disassembly 

Firstly the gun is inspected prior to any disassembly to inspect for any cosmetic damage, cracks or mechanical issues which have not already been reported. The stock is then removed from the gun, the parts within the action removed and the parts which are not being replaced are put into a sonic cleaner to remove any dirt or debris. Whilst this is undertaken the rest of the action which cannot be placed into the sonic cleaner has to be cleaned using various chemical solutions to remove any old grease and dirt. This is the longest part of the service as each part has to be inspected, cleaned and if applicable, grease applied.

 

Barrel & Ejector Disassembly

During this stage the barrels are closely inspected for any damage or cosmetic marks. The ejectors retaining discs, ejectors and springs are removed and cleaned. Usually the springs will be replaced as these are a wearing part which will weaken over time. Each part is reassembled and greased where necessary.

 

Forend Disassembly

In order to re-tension the opening/closing action of the gun the forend has to be dissembled and a small part replaced. Once the part has been replaced the remainder of the metalwork is cleaned, re-greased and reassembled onto the woodwork. The forend is also responsible for the timing of the ejectors. The ejector timing is addressed when the gun is resembled.

 

Action Reassembly 

The action reassembly is by far the most time consuming part of the service. It is imperative that any worn parts such as the bolt, mainsprings & firing pins are replaced during this stage. Each part has to be assembled, tested and altered to ensure that it is correct. Parts that are not being replaced are removed from the sonic cleaner, greased where appropriate and reassembled into the action.

 

Adjustments

Once the reassembly has been completed, all parts must be checked for correct function and if any further adjustment is required. At this stage the ejector timing will be checked and providing they are perfectly in time then no further adjustment is required.

 

Live Test Fire & Final Clean

The final stage of the service. During this stage I would take the gun out with some light 21Gram cartridges to ensure that the gun cycles correctly on the inertia system and that the trigger is crisp and without issue. Once fired, the ejector timing will be checked once again and the live fire is complete. Lastly, the gun is cleaned post firing to ensure that it is returned clean and greased for the customer to continue using for years to come.
